[Chrönique] Matteo Uggeri & Luca Bergero – Words Delicate Flight – Album – 2018.

Experimental / noise / ambient

This album is one unexpected little surprise which marks the return of two Italian sound artists in collaboration: Matteo Uggeri (well noted musical artisan, electronic designer, working actively for the chamber / progressive post-rockin combo Sparkle in Grey) and Luca Bergero (who used to work under the moniker of Fhievel and who is also active in the musical therapy field of experiments). Their last collaborative effort was delivered in 2007. However this duet turns into a musical collective with the appearance of a few guests. The album is mastered by Ian Hawgood (English sound artist and header of the indie label Home Normal). Initially the sound materials were designed and edited in 2012 during the recording sessions of Matteo’s « In the other house ». This work consists of a vast, meticulously detailed and structural research on pure sounds. It evolves through treatments, manipulations and exploration of various sound sources mixed all together to create a deeply sensorial-cognitive-affective sound tapestry. Samples taken from green sound field recordings interact with micro tonal variations, sinuous electronic drone flux and melodious acoustic sequences in a modern classical direction. The result is quite experimental, abstract, intellectual but it does not lack of charm and delicateness with the presence of evocatively cinematic passages. « Words Delicate Flight » is a discreet, challenging and friendly soundscaping excursion that will invite the listener to discover a wide palette of emotions forged in the details. Recommended for fans of Cate karr’s micro-processed ambient miniatures, Marianne Zazeela’s eternal dreamscapes  and christopher Berg or Aaron Martin’s neo-tonal impressionistic instrumentals.
